Installing or Updating Blackmagic Design Desktop Video Drivers. We recommend that Livestream customers download. Download the latest drivers for your Blackmagic UltraStudio SDI to keep your Computer up-to-date. A couple of hours to install, update, setup and test the SDI and HDMI ports with my EX1 and 5D mark III (without audio). Could be easier to install, but works great capturing the signal to a 2012 MacBook Pro 8GB and streaming video using the livestream software. Need to setup 3 steps after install software and update: 1- the settings in the Apple menu to choose the port 2 - the Preferences in the media Express software 3 - the camera settings to match to the software. EX1-SDI out and 5D III-HDMI out. Rated 4 out of 5 by TJ from Good for dumb capture I bought this in the hopes of doing direct capture from my C100 to my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately the device is dumb in the sense that it only passes along the signal it is given. The HDMI output of the C100 is 60i, regardless of the frame rate the camera is set on. Sep 25, 2015 Blackmagic UltraStudio Express. Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio Express - Duration. [BlackMagic Ultrastudio Mini Recorder + YouTube]. Buy Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Recorder. The Mini Recorder also comes with Blackmagic Media Express. Download and install an older driver. Smart devices like the Ninja 2 or Ninja Star are able to unwrap that 60i signal and output a true 24p signal for recording, but this device does NOT do that. It seems to be a great recording device if all you need to do is pass along a signal from a camera to a computer. I returned mine, not because I was unhappy, but because I just bought the wrong device. Rated 3 out of 5 by Basem from Does the job but tends to overheat and stop working. It's the cheapest option for HDMI HD capture. I use it with a Mac Mini late 2012 and it works fine most of the time. Occasionally it will not appear on the list of devices - because it tends to get pretty hot. Unplugging and replugging it seems to get things working again, but I wonder how long before it stops working all together. An On/Off switch would have been great, since the device is continuously powered as long as it's connected to a thunderbolt port. An switch would allow users to turn it off when not in use (giving the circuitry a chance to cool down) and hopefully prolong it's life span.
